Full lips are a quality that we associate with youth and sensuality. Lips can become thinner and less symmetrical as we grow older, or sometimes we may wish to improve the natural shape or volume of our lips. Injection with biodegradable hyaluronic acid, a sugar created by our own bodies can restore your lips, adding volume and definition and minimising fine vertical lines above the lips.
At Alexandra, we only use the safest and most natural products available by Restylane® which are FDA approved and have been used successfully and safely by clinicians for decades. The lips can be a sensitive area to treat, but thanks to the numbing cream and products which contain anaesthetic qualities, any discomfort is minimal. The results of lip augmentation usually last for 6 – 12 months.
After a thorough consultation, an anaesthetic cream will be applied to the area. For very nervous or sensitive patients we can numb the area completely using dental anaesthetic, and we use microcannulas for treatment wherever possible to maximise patient comfort and safety. Our experienced and fully trained practitioner will inject a gel solution under the skin and into the lips at precise locations to best benefit your lip appearance. Everybody’s lips are different and our clinicians will provide a personalised treatment to ensure a natural and youthful effect.
After your treatment, you are advised to avoid any vigorous exercise and to refrain from rubbing the area or applying lipstick or other cosmetics. Clients may experience some swelling or bruising around the injection site, but this typically disappears within 2 – 7 days. Because of swelling, it is not always possible to judge the results of lip augmentation directly after the treatment and for this reason, we usually advise clients to return to the clinic for a review and touch-up treatment if necessary within a fortnight of the procedure.
